Each year on the third Thursday of November, the Gamay Valley Beaujolais wines are officially released. Just after midnight, the race begins to ship the new wine across the world.

Harvested in the fall, the Beaujolais Nouveau wine is sold immediately after fermentation. Mandatory hand picking of grapes from the Gamay valley are the only grapes used for the Beaujolais Nouveau wines.

SCA of Cary hosts a wine tasting for the new Beaujolais on the Friday evening following its release. A festive occasion for all, we celebrate our friendship with Le Touquet. Students from Wake Tech Culinary Arts prepare samplings of wonderful French hors d’oeuvres and the Wine Steward from Wake Tech serves up the unique tastings of several releases.

Cary Sister Cities participates in this festival in several ways. Each year we host a delegation from one of our sister cities. It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our festival and to introduce the delegates to our community.

We participate in the TASC (Triangle Area Sister Cities) Civic booth and provide information about our program and about Triangle Sister Cities programs.

We also have one of our main fundraisers at the festival: our international hospitality garden featuring beers from our sister cities, international music and food, and a whole lot of fun for all.
