BEAUTIFUL LE TOUQUET

Le Touquet is favorably located on the seacoast just across the English Channel from England, relatively close to both Paris and London.  Hence, it is a favorite site for many vacationers from the United Kingdom and continental Europe.  The city has developed its appeal as a “Resort for all Seasons,” with attractions to appeal to visitors of all ages.  The tennis complex ranks as the fourth largest in France.  In addition to activities related to the beach, such as wind surfing and sailing, there are equestrian events, golf courses, antique car shows, numerous festivals, and a variety of other attractions.  For the summer of 2007, the city developed an outdoor exhibit on the “Magic of Egypt”, featuring sand sculptures reminiscent of the pyramids and structures of ancient Egypt.

FRENCH ETIQUETTE

MEETING:  The handshake is common, but between friends, a kiss on the cheek, first on the left and then on the right, is fine.

GIFTS:  Flowers should be given in odd numbers, but not 13!

DINING:  Always send flowers in the morning; dress well, and never be later than 10 minutes without a call of explanation.

TABLE:  Don’t begin eating until the hostess says “Bon Apetit” and leave your wine glass nearly full if you don’t want more.

Le Touquet has a reputation as the most elegant holiday resort of northern France and has long been known as the holiday destination for the Brits “smart set.”
